I am originally from Southern California and after attending UCSC for my
undergraduate degree in Modern Literature I decided to return to Orange
County to attend the German Department at UCI. I have always been drawn
to literature that depicts struggles against social conformity and am
particularly interested in the fiction and drama written in the early 20th
century. Presently I am working on my dissertation which considers the
way East Germany is represented in fiction and memoirs after German
Unification and how politics shape our memories of the former GDR.
