I am originally from Northeastern Pennsylvania and I miss snow and cold weather! Actually, that isn’t such a problem this year, since I am spending it in Berlin courtesy of a DAAD research stipend. I graduated from West Chester State University of Pennsylvania in 2000 with a dual major in American and British Literature and German, then moved to Germany without a job or money. I spent almost two years teaching business English in Kassel, then decided that I couldn’t live without discussing literature any longer, and applied to graduate school. Between Kassel and UC Irvine, I also served a brief stint as a sales assistant at the uniform store at NAS Lemoore. I am most interested in literature written between 1914 and 1933 and the different representations of World War I found in it, as well as studying the changes in a philosophy of coherent history wrought by the war. In my spare time, I wander around Berlin, sometimes aimlessly, sometimes with either a cultural or culinary goal in mind.
