from the Institute for European Studies at UC Berkeley to pursue his 
research in Madrid

Kate Marsden received a pre-dissertation grant from UCB's Institute 
for European Studies to pursue her research in Paris this summer

Nicole La Bouff has received a grant funded by the Mellon 
Foundation and administered by the Institute of Historical Research 
in London to do pre-dissertation research this summer

Angela Daley is a recipient of the U.C. Pacific Rim Research 
Program's year long fellowship for her project "Gold Fever: Madness, 
Mining, and Migration in the Pacific Rim, 1848-1875"

for her project "California Littoral: The Pacific Mail Steamship 
Company and the Remaking of Coastal California, 1830-1900."

Jennifer Liu has been awarded a Center for Chinese Studies 
Fellowship, which is administered by the National Central Library in Taiwan.
